SENEGAL

In 2017 we began to partner with IMB missionaries Moses and Beth Mivedor in an effort to begin a church planting movement among the 45,000 Jola Kasa people living in Southern Senegal. The Jola Kasa are a largely illiterate people who live on a series of islands near the mouth of the Casamance River. They practice traditional tribal religions, but Islam has begun to make inroads into the local culture. Our teams travel by boat out to the islands where we use Bible storying methods to share the Gospel and disciple new believers. The rustic conditions require team members to be able to swim, hike dirt trails, climb stairs, and endure a warm to hot climate.

The student ministry serves here and shares the true HOPE of Jesus Christ with the families.  The student teams are able to build relationships with the families and share the very reason why they would go all the way to Florida just to serve, and that reason is Jesus!  Our students love sharing that true hope is only found in Him.

OKC VBS TEAM

Each year, dozens of Baptist churches in the Oklahoma City metropolitan area report no baptisms during the calendar year. Many of these churches are small, with few resources and bi-vocational leadership. It is our prayer that helping one of these churches to carry out a Vacation Bible School in their neighborhood, would allow them to see children and adults saved and baptized, and encourage them in their ministry. This team will be made up of Southern Hills members from our 2019 VBS volunteers and workers, who will lead a three day VBS in the evening at one of our metro area churches.
