Worship is at the heart of the Christian faith and we seek to honor God with our voices, instruments, and with our lives. Worshiping God is our response to a God who saves and we joyfully express our thanks for his love and grace in our lives.  

Our desire is not to see worship as an event, but a lifestyle.  We want to “love the Lord with all our heart, soul, mind, and strength” and encourage others to join us in celebrating and worshiping Him.

Worship Choir

If you have a passion for worship and a desire to help lead the church in praise ... then the Worship Choir is for you!

As a member of the Worship Choir you have an opportunity to join other Believers who love to worship the Lord and lead others into His presence.  We are always seeking people who are willing to join us as we lead the Southern Hills family in worship

Worship Orchestra 

The Worship Orchestra is comprised of adult and student musicians who have a desire to use their instrumental gifts to worship God.  Each week the Worship Orchestra accompanies our Worship Choir and the Southern Hills worshiping family in a statement of praise.  If you are an instrumentalist we would love to have you join this outstanding group. 

Xtreme Praise

Children and music go together and Xtreme Praise is the place for children to learn music and about God’s love for them in an exciting way.  Our team of Xtreme Praise leaders are enthusiastic about helping your child learn Scripture, learn to use their voice and instruments to worship God.  Children also get to develop a sense of working together and enjoy singing and leading in worship at SHBC.

 Xtreme Praise meets during the school year on Sunday evening.  All children ages 3 though grade 6 are part of Xtreme Praise Worship Ministry.

Handbells

SHBC has 3 (countem’- 3) handbell groups that are active and use their musical talents to  express their worship.  The groups are organized around ages groups:  adult, youth, and children.  Requirements:  Adult ringers must be able to read music; youth are not required to read music.  Children are not required to read music and this is an excellent way for children to begin their musical journey.

One Hope

One Hope is an auditioned adult vocal ensemble.  Members of One Hope are passionate about worship and sharing Christ as we worship God and encourage others to enter into His presence.  All One Hope members are active members of SHBC and the Worship Choir or Orchestra.  See Pastor Randy if you are interested in One Hope.  

“There is one body and one Spirit—just as you were called to one hope when you were called— one Lord, one faith, one baptism; one God and Father of all, who is over all and through all and in all.” (Eph 4)

2:22 

2:22 is a student worship ensemble.  2:22 is an auditioned group and helps lead worship at SHBC and enjoys singing at other churches.  Members of 2:22 are active members of SHBC and love to share the good news of Christ with others through music.  2:22 gets is inspiration from  2 Timothy 2:22:

“Flee the evil desires of youth, and pursue righteousness, faith, love and peace, along with those who call on the Lord out of a pure heart.”

Drama

Be dramatic!  Jesus used parables as he shared the Gospel.  Our drama ministry uses drama to continue to tell the story.  If you are interested in acting, stage craft, technical, script writing or other aspects of a drama ministry this ministry is for you.

School of Fine Arts

The School of Fine Arts is a ministry of Southern Hills Baptist Church located in South Oklahoma City.  We are proud to offer private instruction in a variety of areas including piano, guitar, drums and many more.  We also have classes available in drama and art and new programs beginning in January. Students of all ages are welcome.  It is our desire to provide you with the best Fine Arts instruction.

All of our teachers are highly qualified and experienced in their field.  We are dedicated to creating an atmosphere where students can grow in their area of Fine Arts study, grow spiritually through the encouragement of Christian teachers, and learn to use their talents to the glory and praise of God.  Please feel free to contact us with any questions you may have.

Media and Technical Team

The SHBC Media and Technical Team is a vital and important ministry at SHBC.  Each week our Media and Technical team runs audio, video, lights, graphic design, on-screen presentation and more to effectively communicate the gospel in a way that the message of Christ is heard and understood.  In addition, our services are broadcast on live radio and on the internet.

Music & Worship Ministry Office Volunteer Team 

We have a team of dedicated volunteers that help with music, phone calls, and all aspects of administration and ministry.  If you have a few hours a week and would like to help we would love to welcome you to the team.
